Dear right-wing voters
Rest assured, I am not going to ask you to vote for a candidate that does not represent you — like those I would vote for.
Partly because it would be dumb, mainly because it would be an unhealthy and unfair subversion of democracy. If your kind is the majority in a democratic country, then it stands to reason that a left-wing candidate should not be elected.
Problem arises when no candidate really represent your values. Which happens. Like, every now and then. Like last November 2016, in the USA or this April 2017 in France. I want you to realize that when no one represents you, it is okay to vote blank or abstain.
Sure, you might feel like you’re leaving the field clear for left-wing candidates that you abhor. That is true. But surely if you have the right to vote, you’re old enough to know that having a left-wing president/prime minister/dictator/leader of the country is not the end of the world.
I’m not saying you’re wrong for being right-wing. Just that left-wing leaders are nowhere near as awful as they’re presented in right-wing media. And if you try to be honest to yourself for one minute, it should be clear.
Look at the debt, the budget, the GDP, pretty much any metric and you’ll see that left-wing governments are not the end of the world.
I am not telling you to vote left-wing
Actually, if you are honest-to-goodness right-wing, it would be bad if you voted left-wing. It would mess up the whole democratic process. So no, I am NOT asking you to vote left-wing.
I am asking you not to associate left-wing with end-of-the-world.
And I know some of you subscribe to terribly manipulative media that feed you fake news and red meat all day long… Don’t worry, it’s not a right-wing thing. Just look at us brandishing our scientific consensus — there is absolutely NO SUCH THING as a scientific consensus, consensus is a diplomatic term that has ZERO scientific value, given that in the scientific process, the message MUST be evaluated independently from the nature and number of its messengers. Yeah, we also have our own biased left-wing media feeding us fake news and bullshit on a daily basis.
But really, it does not matter what your favorite TV show or newspaper or radio show or blog tells you. Chances are the mainstream left-wing, center or right-wing candidate is not going to bring about the end of the world.
I ask you to vote your conscience
Please stop voting for whatever disgusting excuse for a human being your broken corrupted right-wing establishment party has rallied around, for political reasons that have nothing to do with you or with the supposed program.
It is perfectly okay for you to vote blank or abstain. Really. You are not surrendering your voting right but indeed ascertaining your need for a better candidate than whatever narcissistic power-grabber crooked dumb man-child the right-wing party in your country has thrown your way.
Left-wing voters do it all the time. Not only did they make Hilary Clinton lose in the USA, but in my country, France, they forced Jospin to retire, threw Royal to the dustbin, shredded Aubry and right now most of them are voting for either the extreme-left-wing revolutionary republic-breaking Mélenchon or for the center-right liberal Macron, instead of of the left-wing candidate Hamon.
Please vote for your values
If no candidate really represent your values, it only makes sense for you to be frustrated. Guess what, you are not expressing that frustration by voting for whoever won the beauty contest of your party. If you do vote out of a feeling of loyalty to your party, the message you’re sending your party is basically “Hey guys, I don’t care who you choose to run or what you actually do when in power, I’m voting for you no matter what!”
Then guess what? They’re going to pick increasingly fishy and corrupted fellows that are only conservative as far as you can throw them. That only care about your nation during speeches other people wrote. That are ready to sell their soul to the highest bidder. That preach austerity for the little guy, while they distribute public money all over their family members and wealthy friends.
Open your eyes. When the best candidate to represent you is a few light-years away from what you are hoping for, do you really have to vote for that clown?
Wouldn’t it be better for you to just stay home or go fishing on the day of the election?
You do not have to vote for anyone. Voting is a right, but it is also a choice. You are supposed to vote for someone who represents you.
And you deserve oh so much better than Trump and Fillon.
Wake up.
